Director of Operations (This position can be located in any of our locations)

Job Summary: The Director of Operations provides leadership and direction at Jeremiah Program for operational capabilities to include processes and systems that support delivery of program services and shared services/campus support services; property management of Jeremiah Program properties both owned and leased, IT systems, partners and solutions, and procurement. This position will lead an integrated approach to operations, IT, and property management for the organization, creating efficiencies, cost savings and readiness to scale.

Primary Responsibilities:


  • Develop standards and operational procedures that support current and future operational needs
  • Collaborate with functional teams to identify efficiencies
  • Manage renewal/upgrades with vendors in partnership with Finance team
  • Liaise regularly with campuses to ensure operational needs are met 
  • Proactively identify and implement process efficiencies across campuses
  • Foster constructive and open relationships with all constituencies across the country, providing an avenue for full and open communication
  • Use data (metrics, feedback, and analytics) to continuously improve operations
  • Establish Disaster Recovery procedures and manage and document tests

Property Management

  • Responsible for oversight and planning of space and building needs. Establish a strategy for facilities readiness
  • Assist in the evaluation of capital replacement needs and assist with maintaining fixed asset inventory for furnishings and equipment
  • Leads capital projects over $100,000
  • Leads efforts to develop scope and schedule for capital projects, assemble professional design and construction team with adequate qualifications for the project, develop project budget, manage design review, serve as owner’s representative and manage all aspects of the construction project, manage project budget and schedule throughout construction, close-out documentation and coordinate turnover from construction team to Operations team
  • Create and oversee preventative maintenance and ongoing maintenance programs for JP facilities
  • Ensure the maintenance of campus facilities by managing third party contracts
  • Supervise and have oversight for all efforts to conduct space needs assessment, conduct site viability and feasibility analyses, generate budget and cost analyses and conduct negotiations and acquisition process to secure appropriate properties in a variety of regions. Maintain copies of all leases/memoranda of understanding, facility statistics (square footage of rooms, capacity of large assembly spaces).Builds a collaborative environment, working across campuses and forming partnerships
  • Direct efforts to provide as-needed assistance and guidance to Executive Directors on any facility issues that arises (e.g. security systems, acoustic improvements, roof leaks)


  • Work with team members and EDs to identify and implement cost-savings opportunities in procurement areas (e.g. electricity rates, custodial services, furniture, vaults). Provide cost analysis and assist with rate negotiation. Provide advice on complex contract management solutions. Help develop systems to evaluate vendors and provide feedback and ensure high levels of customer satisfaction

IT Systems and Support

  • Manage staff, contractors, third parties, cloud services providers and vendors
  • Lead in the assessment of external and internal technology capabilities
  • Ability to conceptualize a technology vision, enabling innovation and understanding IT trends that can create business value and reduce overall costs. Provide direction on what emerging technologies should be introduced to ensure IT capabilities respond to the needs of JP’s strategy
  • Monitor new technologies and platforms and ensure our internal services, systems and devices are secure and up to date with the latest security measures
  • Develop and maintain SLA with technology vendors
  • Lead the IT philosophy, strategy and plan to put Jeremiah Program at the level of readiness required to meet current and future expansion needs
  • Lead the development and implementation of short and long-term IT project plans, including hardware/software upgrades, administration of data collection systems, and training to address current and future needs of growing organization
  • Ensure staff compliance with content management policy and IT governance
  • Consult with users, management, vendors, and technicians to assess technology, and related training needs to support the overall effectiveness of the organization

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in Operations and IT or an equivalent combination of education and experience, including through military service will also be considered
  • 8 years of proven supervisory/managerial experience, and a strong business acumen
  • Prior experience successfully managing third party vendors
  • Must be customer service oriented and use data (metrics, feedback, and analytics) to continuously improve IT, operations and property management services
  • Direct hands-on experience with:
    • Planning and executing the migration of on-premise solutions
    • On premise and in-cloud infrastructure projects
    • Developing and managing the annual operating budget for IT and Operations to ensure it is consistent with the overall JP strategy and is within plan
  • Demonstrated ability to develop the IT and Operations roadmap and ensure it is consistent with the overall IT and JP strategic plans fostering a culture and mindset driven by continual service improvement
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, influence and communications skill with the proven ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization, to both technical and non-technical audiences including presentation and written communication
  • Must be customer service oriented using metrics, feedback, and analytics to continuously improve data center and corporate technology services
  • Strong analytical and change management skills with demonstrated problem solving ability
  • Proven ability to manage critical projects with limited direct supervision
  • Excellent communication skills with a consistent desire to help and empower colleagues
