BROOKLYN, NY (February 10, 2020)- Jeremiah Program (JP), a national nonprofit with one of the most successful strategies for disrupting generational poverty among single mothers and their children, has appointed Nakisha Evans as the new Executive Director for its Brooklyn campus. Evans will work on creating new opportunities for the campus and building on its proven holistic approach.

"We are excited to welcome Nikki to our team," said Chastity Lord, President and CEO, Jeremiah Program. "Her unique analytical approach to scaling initiatives from the inside and out will greatly serve our Brooklyn campus through this pivotal moment in time. I am looking forward to the ways in which she will be an inspirational architect of solutions for our Jeremiah families."

Evans joins Jeremiah Program from the City University of New York (CUNY) Central Office, where she was the Director of Office of Workforce Partnerships, leading the student career success program and building bridges between businesses, CUNY's workforce, and its academic programs. Prior to this role, she spent years as an Administrator for Siemens, an internationally-recognized technical academy, where she established and cultivated partnerships with educational institutions. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in African and Afro-American Studies from Brandeis University, and a Master's Degree in Government and Politics, International Relations and Public Administration from St. John's University. She was a former Fellow in The Robert Bosch Foundation's Future American Leaders Program and is currently serving on the NYC Steering Committee on Inclusive Growth, which brings together emerging leaders to develop a policy agenda for inclusive economic growth across New York City, while reducing structural inequities and driving the city's economy forward during and post the pandemic.

Jeremiah Program opened the doors of its Brooklyn campus in 2017, in collaboration with Medgar Evers College and two local organizations, Community Solutions and SCO Family Services. In 2021, Jeremiah Program Brooklyn will increase its enrollment by 75%, to provide new mothers and their families with support for career-track college education, childcare and early childhood education, affordable housing and empowerment training.
