Job Summary: Jeremiah Program’s national office is seeking a full-time Staff Accountant who would be responsible for accounts payable and other general accounting activities. This individual will work in collaboration with the other members of the Finance Team. A systems-minded individual with excellent attention to detail, strong communication, and organizational skills is the ideal candidate for this position. This position is a part of a fast-paced, non-profit organization that is seeking support as programs grow and expand on a national level.


Primary Responsibilities:

Accounts Payable

  • Verify all invoices for payment and process payment transactions, ensuring timeliness and accuracy of information and appropriate backup documentation
  • Maintain excellent, proactive, and collaborative communications with vendors and staff
  • Maintain A/P workflow system and payable records, including vendor W-9 forms and the preparation of annual 1099 forms
  • Prepare monthly credit card reports, working proactively with staff to ensure all expenses are coded properly and supporting documentation is provided
  • Serve as Nexonia system administrator

Accounts Receivable

  • Record deposits and work closely with the Gift Processing Manager to reconcile with Raiser’s Edge


  • Ensure electronic timecards are correctly filled out, approved, and submitted on time
  • Process and transmit payroll and generate pay period reports
  • Complete online benefits uploads and record transactions in accounting software
  • Review and reconcile monthly benefits billings and submit vendor payments

Assist with Month-end Close, Analysis & Reporting which may include:

  • Complete balance sheet account reconciliations
  • Maintain month-end files with appropriate reconciliations and other supporting documentation

Related Accounting & Financial Functions

  • Budgets & Forecasts: assist with coordination of the annual budget process, loading budgets, preparing reports, and providing supporting analysis
  • Year-End: assist with year-end close, audits and 990
  • Grants: provide financial support and budgets for grant proposals
  • Onboarding: provide one-on-one training and support to new staff regarding internal financial processes, policies, and

Other Duties as Assigned

 Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business with an accounting
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills to support a collaborative work environment
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy, strong data entry skills
  • High degree of organization and ability to manage time efficiently
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Suite
  • Ability to learn new systems and help other
  • Maintain internal and external confidence and protect operations by sustaining information confidentiality
