United Way for Greater Austin has partnered with the City of Austin and Travis County to develop the Austin/Travis County 2-Gen Strategic Plan in order to integrate the 2-Gen approach within our entire community. This Plan – the first community-wide strategic plan for 2-Gen in the nation supports families living in low-income households by intentionally providing services to parents and children simultaneously. The 2-Gen approach provides families with opportunities to further their education, build social capital, maintain their physical and mental health, and increase economic well-being and overall stability.
UWATX featured Jeremiah Program and resident, Cristina, in their new video to illustrate the 2-Gen approach. The video also includes key leaders like Delia Garza – Austin City Council District 2, Dr. Christopher T. King – The University of Texas, Sean Hassan – Austin Community College Trustee, and County Commissioner Jeff Travillion, explaining why this approach is important for the success of our entire community.
