Jeremiah Program – MSP is seeking a full-time Volunteer Manager that would be responsible for managing a comprehensive volunteer program to successfully meet the short and long-term needs of Jeremiah Program.
Responsible for managing a comprehensive volunteer program to successfully meet the short and long-term needs of Jeremiah Program. The Volunteer Manager ensures that the community has enough volunteers to fulfill the mission across all departments.
A. Volunteer and Community Engagement
Responsible for proactively and professionally recruiting and placing volunteers within all key areas of Jeremiah Program organization, ensuring that staff supervision and training from the appropriate departments are in place.
Work in partnership with Jeremiah Program staff to ascertain and agree on highest priority volunteer resource needs.
Build alliances with key community constituencies (corporate, education, civic, congregations of faith and political) to develop on-going, effective and efficient volunteer streams.
Direct on-line volunteer recruiting efforts (example Volunteer Match, local Hands-on organization).
Train staff to work cooperatively and effectively with volunteers.
Oversee collection and reporting of timely, accurate volunteer data and contributions.
Assess needs for volunteers to enhance program and service delivery.
Conduct ongoing evaluation of volunteer programs in partnership with the Program & Data Specialist in accordance with the standards of excellence.
Plan formal and informal recognition activities to recognize the contributions of volunteers to the community.
Manage volunteer program budget.
Supervise and provide direction to the Volunteer Services team.
Develop and implement new positions as needed. Evaluate the risk associated with each position and take appropriate action to control the risk associated with the position.
Lead interviewing and screen process of potential volunteers to ensure the best match between skills, qualifications, and interest of the volunteers and the needs of the community.
Administer and review volunteer policies and procedures for the community.
Evaluate the performance of each volunteer on an annual basis.
Work in collaboration with colleagues on the Leadership Team to recruit, train, and motivate student volunteers for Jeremiah events.
C. Other Duties as assigned
All Jeremiah Program employees are mandated reporters and are legally required to ensure a report is made when abuse is observed or suspected.
BA/BS in social work, education, psychology, sociology, non-profit management or related fields.
Certification in volunteer administration or 5 years’ experience in volunteer management that includes capacity building, training, placement, and staff training.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work in a team environment, interact with management, direct service staff and participants to ensure high-quality service delivery.
Ability to problem-solve, multi-task, work independently, and in collaboration with the Leadership team, move strategic initiatives forward.
Certified in First Aid/CPR • Proficiency in computer skills, i.e. Microsoft Office, SharePoint, and proficient in volunteer management database systems.
