Community Is a Verb

2025 has reaffirmed a core belief for JP President and CEO Chastity Lord: Community is active, intentional, and always worth it.

The past couple of months have sharpened my belief that our lives are defined by our relationships and the courage to show up for one another. The belief that we achieve anything alone is deeply misleading.

Recently, I was struck by a powerful truth: community is a verb. It’s active, intentional, sometimes messy, but always worth it. JP is not alone. You are not alone. We are in this together.

This year, let’s fill our homes with laughter and connection. Host those potlucks that run late into the night. Plan game nights where stories flow freely. Create dinner parties where everyone lingers, reluctant to leave. While this year holds its mysteries, we know our strength lies in these shared moments — in breaking bread, in honest conversations, in building the resilience our communities need.

JP’s commitment to supporting single moms and their families burns brighter than ever. We’re expanding the number of families we serve across all nine cities, strengthening and deepening our impact. The wisdom of JP moms and alumni guides us — their voices, experiences, wins, and losses are our greatest teachers.

Like many of you, I have been asking myself how I can do more. Our JP tent is growing, and we need you. Are you a single mom ready to redefine your family’s future? Do you know someone who is? We’re also seeking volunteers, board members, and visionary staff to join our movement.

Thank you for being part of this journey, for believing in the power of us, and for showing up when it matters most.

Let’s go!
