ROCHESTER, MINN. (September 20, 2023)—As part of its recent operational leadership takeover of the Rochester campus’ Child Development Center, Jeremiah Program (JP)—a national nonprofit with one of the most successful strategies for helping single mothers and their children overcome the barriers that sustain generational poverty—has tapped Jamie Mitchell as Child Development Center Director for its Rochester campus.

A preschool teacher, education coach and director of education and training with over 10 years of experience, Mitchell understands the benefits of prioritizing child education at an early age and how to set students up for success so they can reach their full potential. With an Elementary Education, K-8 Bachelor’s degree from Gustavus Adolphus College and over 250+ hours of continuing education, Mitchell has proven she’s a natural leader in the early childhood education space.

“I joined Jeremiah Program to join the fight against the systematic problems that exist within our education system, making it incredibly difficult for single mothers and their kids to reach economic mobility,” said Mitchell. “I felt drawn to JP’s 2-gen model, which helps children get ready for kindergarten and prepares them for the road of education ahead. I’m looking forward to creating a school environment that children are excited to be a part of, making sure they have a positive experience so they can feel confident and capable in the same way their moms will.”

The top-rated Jeremiah Program Child Development Centers provide excellent early childhood education for children ages six weeks through preschool. Children learn in a physically safe, emotionally secure and intellectually stimulating environment, with age-appropriate classrooms and outdoor playgrounds. Mitchell will be responsible for working closely with the teachers and family coaches and making sure the children are meeting their physical, emotional and academic milestones so they are kindergarten ready when they graduate.

“Jamie will be an excellent addition to our team here in Rochester as we continue to ensure our childcare operations reflect the unique support and resources necessary for our JP Moms and their children,” said Ally Hanten Ebert, Executive Director, Jeremiah Program Rochester. “She has a wealth of experience and expertise in early childhood education, and a strong drive and commitment to be able to support these mothers and their young children as they work towards a better future.”

The Child Development Center remains at the Rochester campus and is available to children of single moms enrolled in JP. In 2022, 69 JP kids benefitted from high-quality early education programming at Rochester’s Child Development Center.

On Monday, October 2nd, please join JP Rochester as it celebrates its 5th anniversary. Tours of the Child Development Center and Children’s Library will be available, with an opportunity to meet with the JP Coaches and learn more about JP Rochester’s goals for 2024. Please RSVP here.
